My name is Sandi. I’m 72 years old and worried that I’m going to lose the home I’ve worked so hard all my life to have. I grew up with a physically abusive father, so I learned early on that I would need to be responsible for my own needs. I raised my younger brother and sister from when they were 10 years old to get them out of the abuse.
I’ve lived in the same community since 1964. This is where all of my friends live. Over the years, I’ve worked as a nanny, started my own commercial cleaning service and day care home & worked at a ski shop. I’ve worked as a broker leasing apartments since 1981. In 2001, I was finally able to buy a deed restricted home. I rent out part of the house to help pay the mortgage.
My doctor recently put me on disability due to fibromyalgia and severe arthritis that limits my mobility its difficult to walk. I’ve never asked for any help before my body became weak and old, but I’m asking for your help now. My home means everything to me. I hope to stay in it until I die. I’ve paid the mortgage every month for the last 15 years, but I simply don’t have the money to pay it now and I am unable to work. I want to keep living and I thank God for that chance.
I’m hoping to set up a non-profit to help people like me who have given their sweat equity to build this community and are now old and in need of assistance, it will probably take at least two years to get it approved and up and running. I am grateful for any help you can give me.
