Hello, my name is Shane and I an the grandson of a retired E7 master sergeant of the U.S. Air Force. His name is Victor L. James. My grandfather had told me stories about when he was in the military about all the amazing places, things he saw and did. There use to be a time where every other night me and my grandmother would sit down and listen to him tell us is amazing and incredible stories. My grandfather is 82 years old and I have lived with him for 16 years. He and my grandmother Sadie James had stepped in to be my parents when I was young. On August 27, 2021 my grandmother passed away at the age of 61 due to complications of lung cancer, still to this day my grandfather and I think about her all the time. My grandfather is not really emotional but I hear him crying every now and then because he lost his one true love. My grandfather lives on a fixed income, and after 27 years in the Air Force he doesn’t really have much to show for it. The house that he lives in has to be put into renovation, the cost of the renovation to the roof, floor, and air conditioning is totaled around $12,200. My grandfather does not know that I am starting a campaign for him. I am doing this as a surprise for him to show my appreciation for taking me in when I was young, also I haven’t seen him happy for a long time. $12,000 is a lot to ask for, but every little bit counts, they say life begins with kindness and my grandfather has one of the kindest hearts that anyone could ask for.
