Hello, my name is Michael Blazewski and I am a 74-year-old Disabled American Veteran of the United States Air Force and this is my story. I was diagnosed with Kidney Cancer in January of 2023, I wanted to get the best care possible and this became my mission. After finally changing my Health Insurance plan from a HMO to a PPO I knew that I was eligible to go to MD Anderson Cancer Center here in Houston Texas, which is rated the Best Cancer Hospital in the world. My very first visit to MD Anderson was August 1st of 2023. My only mode of transportation has been via my electric scooter and the Metro Bus system Then my next step was to find a place to stay in the fall of 2023 close to the Texas Medical Center in Houston. Right before my daughter/caregiver were going to move I fell at home and broke my right ankle and broke my toes in my left foot. That did not deter me from moving and going to MD Anderson. We moved to an Extended Stay American Hotel on November 29th, 2023. On December 15th MD Anderson removed my right kidney and part of my bladder, My left Kidney is so far operating ok. I still have appointments at MD Anderson through March 28 at which point I really want to move back to my Home State of Michigan. This past December my best friend of over 57 years passed away and I didn’t have the money to fly up there to be with his wife and 3 children. I still have a lot of friends and cousins in Michigan, and I want to be there for them, and they could be there for me. I am literally Begging for your help.

Expense wise the room at Extended Stay American costs me $297 a week and I owe MD Anderson close to $15,000. I’ve exhausted all of my savings along with my daughter. My only hope are the people reading this, that are willing to donate whatever they can spare or my daughter and I will be homeless. We would never be able to survive on the street and NO Veteran should be living out on the streets.

Remain Blessed everyone!
