Dear friends and family,
We wanted to provide you with an update on Tamara’s journey battling breast cancer. Unfortunately, after 5 months of pursuing alternative treatments, a PET scan revealed that the cancer has spread to her spine. This news was devastating, but Tamara immediately began treatment. She is now undergoing 6 rounds of chemotherapy, radiation targeted at the spine, and immunotherapy every 3 weeks for the foreseeable future. There’s also the possibility of surgery, more radiation, and hormone therapy down the road.
This journey has taken a toll on Tamara and her loved ones. To focus on her treatment, Tamara had to take an unpaid leave of absence from her job as a school-based speech-language pathologist. In addition to conventional treatment, she’s incorporating alternative therapies like acupuncture, hypnotherapy, talk therapy, and vitamin C IVs, along with an organic, clean diet to ensure a full recovery.
We’re relieved to report that Tamara is responding well to treatment, and she’s aiming for no evidence of disease following her last treatment in April. We’re incredibly grateful to all who have generously donated so far; your support helped Tamara pay off her 2023 deductible. However, she continues to struggle to cover ongoing 2024 deductibles, therapy costs, and organic groceries.
