On September 17th, 2023, the world of my entire family was turned on its head as my dad found Shelley unresponsive and bleeding out in the bathroom of their home. Not knowing what might be going on, my frantic father called 911 and had an ambulance take her directly to the hospital in Grand Rapids, MI all the way from Sand Lake.

Shelley would spend the next week in the hospital fighting for her life and answers. She would undergo countless tests and procedures, including a blood transfusion. She was gravely ill and way too close to death.

While this doesn’t sound like too big of a deal, Shelley does not have medical insurance. A luxury that a lot of us can be thankful for. After a week-long stay in the hospital, her request for assistance was declined. Although we are all so happy to have her home and healthy, this debt is a burden that my family cannot handle on their own.

Shelley is a mother, grandmother, friend, wife, and sister to many of her friends. She has 4 children, but countless others that she has taken under her wing over the years. If you know Shelley, you know that she is someone who would give you the shirt off her back. She would do anything in her power to help anyone if she was able to.

Our family would be forever grateful for any donations or shares that you’re able to give us during this time.

Thank you!

-Lindsey Schader
