This is a fundraiser to help Bonnie’s husband Bill with her funeral expenses, and some other expenses that Bill is trying to keep under control, including almost $100,000.00 in Bonnie’s Medical Bills. The only thing we are asking for here is $10,000.00 to pay for the funeral and give Bill a little bit extra to get by. Bonnie has been been in the Genisis Skies Healthcare for over 2 years. This has put an immense strain on Bill, Well, you know how expensive healthcare is.Give what you can, all is appreciated.Bonnie served as firefighter, then as Chief of Bernalillo County Fire District One for several years. She also held the position of fire dispatcher for Bernalillo County. She also worked on writing the specifications for several pieces of s fire equipment that saw service in Bernalillo County. She also collected toy fire truck, as many fire fighters have with a very extensive collection, filling several rooms in her house. When there was wildland fires burng, almost anywhere in the county, including the East Mountains, Bonnie would load up a truck with water, sandwiches and snacks, and a supply of Gatorade to keep the firefighters energized, and would stay on scene until everyone was packed up and headed home. Bonnie was dealt a raw deal several years ago when she found out that she had Breast Cancer. After several rounds of Chemo and radiation, she was able to beat it, only to be afflicted with Alzheimer’s years later, which got progressively worse. Being the loving husband, Bill attempted to cre for her at home, asking myself to help at times. It finally got too much for Bill to handle at home so she was admitted to Genesis Skies care facility where she remained until the end.
