Thanksgiving is our favorite time of year. Susan and I celebrated our 49th anniversary on the 22nd with a reunion in Iowa of all our kids and their families from across the country. On the 23rd, our youngest granddaughter tragically died. She was brought to life by her parents and life-flighted to Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines, where she was sustained by life support. She awoke on Thanksgiving Day long enough to smile and hold mommy’s hand and feel daddy’s beard, then suddenly passed away at 5:00 p.m. It’s only one day in intensive care, but that cost can add up fast these days. Also, there are the cost of transportation home and funeral expenses for our granddaughter. Her parents would appreciate having financial burdens lifted a bit by whomever cares enough to send a little to defray their costs.
Any funds raised through this fundraising campaign will be used by Josh and Elena. They also hope to place a piece of playground equipment in her memory at the park in their Lincoln, NE neighborhood where Sawyer loved to play.
