I am a Christian, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. I believe God is in control of all things in this life. He hears our earnest prayers and requests. My health issues began in 2009. I was a passenger in a vehicle that was hit by an elderly driver with dementia. I underwent surgery and four days later, I developed clots and had a stroke. I lost my vision. But after years of prayer and patience, I gained some sight in one eye. God is Good. I remained on blood thinners, which lead to internal bleeding from a muscle tear, after catching my grandson as he was falling. Then 3 years later, I developed angioedema from my blood pressure med. I was unable to breathe, felt I was suffocating and was intubated for days. After that, my life seemed to settle down. In July 2019, I went into Afib, and again it was off to the hospital. My medical teams were amazing. Again, God was in control the entire time. I remained well until October of the same year, then I suffered an aortic dissection. I was life flighted to UPenn hospital in Philadelphia. I was told only 50% of patients make it to the hospital and then 25% will survive. I remained in a coma for 8 weeks. During that time, God was Good all the time. He continued to challenge me when my heart did not improve. I had excellent cardiologists and was able to have a pacemaker/defibrillator inserted. Cardiac rehab continues as well as ongoing testing and care. My medical bills have continued to grow rapidly. We have almost exhausted all our 401k’s and all savings. I am trying to get help with my medical bills. I have wonderful neighbors, friends and family who have helped me immensely. I will continue to live every day in gratitude for the life and blessings I have been given. I praise My Almighty for giving me abundant love.
