“Giving is always a blessing; generosity is always life-changing” – Todd Stocker

I write this today with the hope that you have found the blessing in giving, but more importantly, to report the “life-changing” effects of your generosity within the Riggins family.  The resources that you have shared have made it possible for this family to be together during a very difficult health crisis for Zachary.  Without these additional funds, Zachary would be left alone at the hospital and the family would be waiting at home, on “pins and needles”, for a phone call from the doctors.  They continually express their gratitude for those who have given and the opportunity they now have to support Zack during this difficult season.  I received this in a text from Lori today:

Zack update:

We’ve started a wait & watch time.  The oncologist said they’ve given a lot of chemo & other meds so we’re giving his body a time to rest and recuperate while letting the medicines do their job.  Now, they need to watch him closely.  Though the chemo he has received does have an effect on his cancer, his liver health is still the major barrier to moving forward with the meds traditionally used to treat lymphoma.  He’s asked by everyone entering his room all day long, “How are you doing?’  Zack’s standard response every time is: ‘Hanging in there’.  I’m watching him do his best to ‘hang in there’ through all of this horribleness.

Being here with Zack and hearing his heart is so very meaningful – I’m incredibly grateful!  Sharing in his suffering by just being here to meet his physical needs, listening to him and loving him, …this is time I could never get back if I missed it.

For Prayer:

-Healing for his Liver and Lungs

-Coughing needs to go

-Healing of Lymphoma and HLH

-Sensing God’s presence more and more

Once again, I’d like to thank you for your support of the Riggins family.  They find themselves often teetering on that thin edge between life and death, wondering who is wining this battle.  It is a difficult and exhausting place to live.  One of our friends likened your support to the friends of Moses holding his arms up.

“Moses’ arms soon became so tired he could no longer hold them up.  So Aaron and Hur found a stone for him to sit on.  Then they stood on each side of Moses, holding up his hands.  So his hands held steady until sunset.”  Exodus 17:12

What can’t be accomplished alone, can be accomplished when many band together for a common purpose.  Thanks for joining this cause and supporting the weary arms of our friends.
