Our son is the light of our lives! He was born to 2 healthy former collegiate athletes. We would have never thought that our baby would be born prematurely or disabled. We have worked hard to give him every chance to enjoy all that life has to offer. His mother has given up her career to care for him. His father still works however the medical and life bills are outweighing what’s being earned. His smile is infectious. He lights up any and every room he rolls in to. We have run into financial difficulties at the wrong time. Because he just turned 21 his government assistance has to be changed. He goes from child assistance to adult assistance. We’ve known this and have tried to stay ahead of it, however, despite our best efforts (wife started when he was 18) we are in a gap waiting for his assistance to kick in. It could be 2/3 more months before he sees a dime. His handicap van is in need of serious repair. The ramp AND engine are malfunctioning. The van repair will be $8500 and we are in IMMEDIATE need. He is stuck in the house without his van. The remainder of the funds is to provide resources to pay for him to attend summer camps that we must travel to in the van (so that he can have some quality of life).
