Dear Friends and Family,
It is with great sadness and heavy heart that I have to announce the beautiful Mona Hyppolite Thorington has taken her place among the saints of heaven March 23, 2024 at 12:59 AM in Columbus, GA. She fought pancreatic cancer till the end and in her prayers for deliverance God has granted her eternal peace.
We will make more announcements concerning arrangements for her going home ceremony. Thank you for your prayers and letters and donations.
In light of the recent news, I will update the giving page linked below. Please let me know if you would like any reimbursement of your prior donation as the purpose of the fund will transition. We will leave it open for donations for her bereavement and medical expenses.

Hello,
For those who may not be aware, on December 22, 2023, just a few days before Christmas, we received the devastating diagnosis that my mother’s prolonged pain was due to stage 4 pancreatic cancer that had metastasized. Since then, she has been undergoing treatment at Emory Hospital in Atlanta. Unfortunately, their treatment options are limited, and after two rounds of treatment with no response from the cancer, they are not offering any further solutions.
We firmly believe that while medical science provides valuable options and Emory has provided kind care, there are limitations, often bound by bureaucratic processes, insurance policies and lacking in holistic approaches.
We have found alternative treatment centers that have successfully treated cases similar to my mother’s, and we are determined to explore these options as our first step. However, most of these centers do not accept insurance and require payment out of pocket. Therefore, we are reaching out for financial assistance to make this possible.
Whether you can spare $5, $500, or $5,000, or $50,000, we ask for your support in contributing to my mother’s healing fund to enable her to access these alternative treatments as soon as possible.
My mother, at 64, has so much more life to live. We want her to witness the birth of her grandchild, celebrate her 50th anniversary with her husband, and enjoy a well-deserved retirement after dedicating 30 years of service as a civil employee to the Army and VA. She is a cherished daughter, a devoted Episcopalian, and a beloved member of our family.
