We are seeking any help toward the cost of braces that are medically necessary and are not covered at all by insurance.  My granddaughter is 16 and has a severe overbite.  Alyssa is in need of braces due to a severe overbite that has gotten progressively worse as she has gotten older.  It has gotten to the point that her teeth are crossing in the front and sticking almost straight out. It is not a situation of vanity, and it is to the point where this needs to be corrected.  Alyssa is a junior in school and is a great student,  she loves sports, especially volleyball.  She has had her share of hardships as a child.  Her mother, who was my daughter, passed away when Alyssa was young.  I’ve always been around to try to ensure Alyssa gets the attention that is needed.  The braces are an expense that I cannot afford and her insurance will not cover.  The overbite is getting worse and is affecting her chewing, and we are trying to get it taken care of as soon as possible.   Her father, though he works hard,  just cannot afford the expense.  That is why the brace have not been done.  I am usually the person helping others. I thought I’d just put this out there.  The first consultation I got for her told her he was going to remove 6 teeth, and then she could get the braces to correct the bite.   I recently took her to another orthodontist that was not so evasive and she can have it corrected with a special brace that would not require the removal of all those teeth.  It will take a two year time period but in the end.  She teeth will be corrected and she will no longer have the issue over the large overbite.
