Hi. My name is Donald Baillargeon. Most people call me Don. And I need your help.
Over the last twenty-seven years I produced and hosted Money TV, a show that provided a platform for entrepreneurs, small business owners and early-stage companies to tell their stories. Some companies were looking for capital, some were looking for more exposure for their product or brand, and some companies were looking for both. During that time, I also hosted many non-profits and companies that just didn’t have the budget to pay to be on the show. Over the twenty-seven years I helped hundreds of companies raise capital and gain an audience for their businesses and helped those companies create thousands of jobs.
So now let me tell you why I need your help. A few years ago, I developed a pain in my foot. Before long that pain had moved from my foot to my leg. It was not only painful, but it was affecting my ability to walk. As anyone would, I went to the doctor who referred me to a number of specialists. Unfortunately, despite various tests, none of these doctors were able to diagnosis what was ailing me.
Meanwhile, this mysterious illness got progressively worse. It affected my motor skills. I had trouble walking, and then I had trouble speaking. I lost weight, even though I continued to eat reasonable portions of food. My mobility decreased until it was an effort to even get up to go to the bathroom. All during this time I had frequent visits to these specialists, but no doctor was ever able to diagnose this illness, let alone prescribe any effective treatment.
The result of this illness ravaging my body, combined with my lack of mobility, was me being rushed to the hospital with a serious kidney and blood infection. With the care of those in the hospital, I beat the odds and survived.
I am now located in a care facility that is providing therapy that hopefully will counter the debilitating effects of this unknown disease. During my stay in the hospital, I went through numerous additional tests, and again no doctor has been able to diagnose my illness or provide any specific treatment options.
While I have a basic insurance plan, it has not covered many of the expensive tests and treatments that I have undergone and continue to undergo. I anticipate that there will be a continuing shortfall in my being able to pay for these tests and treatment. That’s why I need your help.
