Before I start my story, I want to say one thing I believe is extremely important. HAVE YOUR YEARLY MAMMOGRAM. This includes any man who notices something unusual in their breast. I understand breast cancer generally affects women, but me, can have breast cancer also. Don’t take anything for granted.
I lost my job when diagnosed with breast cancer. It was spreading fast, and I had to undergo treatment and surgeries very quickly. Due to the chemo, I have had some adverse side effects causing me to have additional surgeries. Due to the government cutting out the moratorium for financial help I lost insurance which was helping me pay my medical bills. Also, It cost me more in insurance premiums. I am unable to pay my bills and would appreciate any help you can give me.
I am trying my best to stay positive, but it is very, very hard. In the last five years I have suffered on tragedy after another. Let me explain. In December 2018 I suffered a house fire and ended up losing my home. In April I injured my knees, so I had to have total knee replacement of my left knee in July 2019 and of my right knee in December 2019. Soon after Covid hit and due to this pandemic and family health at home I had prevented me from returning to work. This actually turned out to be a good thing, sort of. I suffered a small stroke, and while the doctors were trying to determine what caused it they discovered I was born with a heart defect of my Aortic valve that needed to be replaced. I was feeling down but was doing okay and really thought things were starting to come around. I found a job I loved. Everything was looking up. I went for my regular checkup. I had not had my mammogram in about a year and a half. The reason, I told myself was because I had lost a lot of weight and my breasts were actually just skin. I told my doctor I did not need one. If there was a lump I would feel it. I had made an appointment for breast reconstruction because of all the weight I had lost. My doctor said a mammogram would be advisable so the plastic surgeon would have a good picture of my breast. If I had not had my mammogram at that time, I would be fighting for my life now. From the mammogram to my ultrasound my cancer had spread. From then to my biopsy the cancer had spread. from the biopsy to my lumpectomy my cancer had spread. The cancer spread through my cells and did not form a lump and would never lump. I would not know I had breast cancer if I had not had my mammogram. I had to start chemo treatments right away and a double mastectomy. I was also HER2 p0sitive, so I have to be treated for this also. It has been a long stressful journey.
I am begging everyone who reads this for help. I am to a point that I have to swallow my pride and dignity and ask for help. I don’t want to lose everything. My family has helped all they can. I am a huge strain on them financially. They are wonderful, but they are struggling also.
Believe it or not Just $5.00 would help. Along with passing on this information to everyone you know. If it is passed on to everyone you know, and everyone gives just a little, it will really add up and help me pay my bills and lesson the strain on my family and myself. Thank you in advance.
