Let’s get Bre to Mayo to meet the liver transplant committee to be put on the list for a liver transplant.
Bre has been fighting with overlap syndrome of Primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) which is a disease that affects your bile ducts and a progressive autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) her whole life. She has been in and out of the hospital and has recently been given the opportunity to interview with the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota in hopes to get on the liver transplant list.
Here are a few words from Bre:
I’m Bre, In April 2021 I was diagnosed with small duct Primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC), which is a disease that affects my small bile ducts and scarring on my liver, which has caused many Emergency Department visits, procedures, and hospital stays. In April 2021 I began the process of Apheresis treatment which is a weekly treatment to put a Band-Aid on a bullet hole, so to speak. In August 2022 I was also diagnosed with a genetic mutation autoimmune hepatitis (AIH), after a long road of seeing other providers for help that couldn’t find out what was wrong. In October 2022 I was also diagnosed with a progressive form of autoimmune hepatitis (AIH), which is different from the genetic form of autoimmune hepatitis (AIH). Because I have both of these, I am considered to have what they call overlap syndrome which is rare for women my age.
Tomorrow, I have an appointment to schedule a date on when I can make it to Minnesota for an official transplant evaluation to get listed.
I really appreciate any help that you can provide towards my goal. Thank you in advance!!
