First a little on Roman. He undergoes a 48 hour EEG this month as well as a dental procedure under anesthesia and genetic testing. All these procedures take a toll on Roman because it’s out of the norm for him and not part of his routine. That is when anxiety runs high for him and Audra who is the main care giver and the one that takes him to his appointments and procedures while Ryan tends to the other children. So it really is a whole family effort. The EEG will take place at the Children’s hospital in Madison, WI and will help his specialized doctors there determine what form of DEE-SWAS aka ESES he has and how to start forming a plan of action to help him. This form of epilepsy means his brain is seizing over 80% of the time while he is sleeping. This is on top of the seizures he is continuously having while awake. So our boy is in a battle. Prayers for the test to show exactly what the doctors need to see in order to help us and Roman’s team at school recognize his seizures and how to help him. Also for them the medication and or possible diet change to help him and not hinder him. This is another challenge with this type of epilepsy.
Now about Audra. In February Audra will travel to Rochester, MN for her first appointment at the NEW alternative oncology department at Mayo. She will also be undergoing another PET scan with FDG18 to see if where the cancer is possibly at and growing. The hard part about cervical cancer once in the lymph nodes is that it generally likes to travel to the clavicle area and higher on the body.
