Karen’s rehab

On December 4th 2023 about 2 am I woke up and my wife was still in her chair, she looked asleep. When I tried to wake her up, there was no response and at that time I called 911. They attempted to awake her too. When they arrived. With no success. They said they were transporting her to St. Josephs hospital. First diagnosis was influenza, than swine flu, last and final diagnosis was stage 4 lung cancer. It had spread to her hip area. She was told it was just a pulled muscle. She spent the rest of December in the hospital. Her birthday was December 14th 66 years, plus Christmas. She was transferred to a rehab center early January. They sent her back after a few days. This was due to breathing issues. January 12th she was sent to a different rehab where she presently is. Our insurance covers the first 20 days, I was told that after 20 days it was a co-pay of 205.00 per day. Both of us are on fixed incomes and guardians of our 2 sons. One is bi-polar with aspergers and the other is autistic and adhd. The cost of her rehab is going to put extra stress on us, the boys know she is sick but I haven’t told them if she will be able to come home. She seems to be coherent at times, but struggles to finish an answer or statement. Her ability to swallow was impaired, now about 6 days ago she started to take some liquids. This is due to mini strokes in her brain.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You
