Update 9/15    I’m currently looking for another Oncologist to get a second opinion. I’m trying my best to get into MD Anderson but they are not accepting my insurance. I hope to find a specialist for CLL so I can get more information and a clearer understanding of the stage I am in and what the treatment would be.  Thank you for your support in my journey.

Update 9/8 My PET scan came back normal!!!! My stage has now been confirmed, Stage 1 and I see my oncologist on the 12th and will discuss the treatment plan.

Update- My PET scan is tomorrow 9/6/23  this will let me know if my Spleen is swollen. I’m hoping it is not and I will be in stage 1 with swollen lymp-nodes. The PET scan if $3400 on top of my medical bills. Anything helps, thank you for reading my story and for your support and prayers

Jaime was recently diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) – Which is rare for her young age. CLL is a type of cancer of the blood cells and coming from the bone marrow damaged and mis-shaped. CLL cells are found primarily in the bloodstream, the bone marrow and affects the lymph nodes, liver and spleen. It typically progresses slowly, usually affecting older adults. Treatment for CLL isn’t always needed right after diagnosis, but Jaime will start treatment soon in hopes it will go dormant. It is a chronic condition with no cure. It can be managed, however.  There is a vague plan for a year of treatments, but it is an early diagnosis and they are still looking at other options.  The doctors have told Jaime to be prepared that the medications will be rough and the severe fatigue will take a toll on her body. Jaime is a successful Realtor who is always on the go but she is unable to out showing homes right now, which is how she supports herself.  Not being able to work is EXTREMELY frustrating for her. She needs friends, family, and strangers to be there for support and donations right now.  Skip your coffee or Coke today and donate that $6, please.  She will incur additional medical expenses not covered by insurance and a loss of income from being unable to work as much. Please donate what you can and know that every dollar counts and is appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help, prayers, and support!
