I am a 50 year old female. I am a mother of 2 wonderful girls, and grandmother of a 7 year old grand daughter and 3 year old grand son. I have been a nurse (LPN) since 2002, always working and doing my part. Most of the time I have managed 2 jobs, for years at a time. In 2017, I was on a motorcycle and hit head on, by some teens who ran a red light. I have had a couple surgeries to fix the damage. However, there are 2 procedures that I require. Due to the people who hit me, only had minimum liability. It took weeks to find a surgeon who would help rebuild my left shoulder. It was the most damaged, grade 5+ separation. I have a button, mesh and cadaver ligament. There was disputes with my insurance, since the damage was caused by someone else. It was quite the fight to get the help I needed. All the doctors were worried about was their compensation. As an LPN, my workday is very physical and without this surgery, I will not be able to continue. The accident also, cracked/fractured several of my teeth. Therefore, since, my dental health has plummeted. I literally cannot smile. Any and all funding would go to the dentist and/or surgeon. This has affected my life in so many ways. The inability to hold a job has lead to debt and not being able to meet my basic needs. The fact that I cannot smile due to the embarrassment of my teeth, has caused such depression, something I had not experienced prior. Not being able to care for myself since the motorcycle accident has created such a downward spiral, one feels hopeless most days. With financial help with medical/dental would be life changing. I still have a lot of life to live and yet, there are days that seems impossible. All due to dental/medical issues. If there was a way to address these dental/medical needs, it would be literally life changing. I don’t want to feel and look like trash. I understand that I am not anyone’s responsibility, I’ve done nothing but struggle and keep trying since the accident.
