In September, Troy and Jennifer were finally able to start the empty nester phase of their lives by fulfilling their dream of the “RV Life.” They both started working for a nice park in Salem, and were loving the scenery, pool, and hot tub. Within a couple of weeks, however, Troy was admitted to the ICU after contracting a very rare disease from a water source at the RV property. Troy has been fighting for his life ever since.

As a last-ditch, life-saving attempt, Troy was put into a medical coma on a paralytic and a ventilator. After a few days, the medical team started bringing him out of the coma. It is an absolute miracle that he survived without brain damage from his body being deprived of oxygen for so long.

Troy has now been released from the hospital, but it is not safe for him to go back to the RV park for a couple of months, if at all. His body is very weak, and cannot get in, or around inside, the RV. He has a home healthcare nurse and PT/OT team who will need more space with which to work with him. He also needs a hospital bed. Troy also cannot be left alone for any length of time. Jennifer is his sole care provider, and will be unable to work at all for the next couple of months.

Troy is a loving father and grandfather. I have known him for 23 years now. He is Saxon’s “Uncle Troy” who always makes him feel special and loved. This is an absolute crisis moment for them. If anyone can donate some funds to help pay for a hospital bed and living expenses, it would be greatly appreciated.

Any remaining funds will be used to pay for the $200 test kits needed to test the water in the RV, and the park’s hot tub and pool. The county was supposed to be doing that, as Legionella has outbreak potential and a 30% fatality rate, but they’ve completely dropped the ball.
