After having Izabel I struggled with debilitating pain. Once a month I had to take time away from work, because I was in so much pain. Enduring ruptured cysts, heavy bleeding and sometimes for several months. One time I lost so much blood that I ended up in the hospital. Luckily it wasn’t so much that I needed a blood transfusion, but it was enough to land me in the ER.
Gynecologists kept suggesting birth control to bandaid my symptoms. For 5 grueling years I put up with it, never taking birth control or any pain management, because OTC ibuprofen or Midol was no match.
Until finally, I found a gynecological surgeon who specialized in Pelvic Rehabilitation Medicine and on August 31, 2023 I had my final surgery.
I underwent a Robotic Bilateral Salpingectomy, Cystectomy and Appendectomy. The surgery took 4 hours to remove: my uterus and 10 golfball-sized fibroids, my cervix, fallopian tubes, left ovary, an endometrial cyst from my right ovary and then restructure my right ovary to leave intact and finally my appendix. My appendix was removed because, though it was healthy – there was so much endometrial scar tissue surrounding it that I could experience a ruptured appendix at any moment.
Pathology results were negative for everything that was removed. All is well in my recovery journey, aside from a few issues with my bladder that have since resolved with Pelvic floor rehab in physical therapy.
I knew, prior to surgery I’d only be responsible for my deductible. After surgery the medical claim got denied because it “lacked medical necessity”. For 2 months following surgery I fought and appealed the claims and now only a portion is covered, leaving me with a large bill. Please help support us in getting this paid.
