Hello

My Name is Paul Lovett. I am a U.S. veteran who served our country. I suffer from acute hearing loss, anxiety, and P.T.S.D. from the Military.

I am a retired Correctional Officer of 32 years and 9 months for The Indiana Dept. Of Corrections. I retired Oct.29th,2020. After I retired, I found myself in the position of having to work part-time for health insurance for myself. My Wife is disabled so she has Medicare insurance.

I am a father of 4 children. One daughter from my first marriage, a son and a daughter with my current Wife and we adopted a daughter out of the foster care system of which we fostered over 83 children in our home over a span of 7 years. We also claim 2 young ladies whom we have adopted into our family as our own daughter’s, whom we love. Blood doesn’t make a family Love does.

I am also a proud Papa of 3 grandson’s and a granddaughter whom I love with all my heart.

All of our children are grown now, so it is my wife and I dream to retire in the Smokey Mountains of TN.

As of Jan 6,2023, I became   very ill. I started having trouble breathing, walking, and had severe swelling of my body especially in my feet.  My feet began to crack, and bleed.

I went to my Family Dr. She examined me and told me to go straight to the Emergency room.  I arrived at Emergency room where there I was examined and immediately admitted into the Hospital.

Over the next 4 days I had a series of test, x-ray’s, EKGs, Echocardiogram, Ultrasounds. At this Time My body started to betray me.

I went into Complete Renal Failure and Congestive Heart Failure.  I was moved to the I.C.U. unit of the hospital. The Drs.  ran more test as you can imagine.  More blood work I felt like a human pin cushion. I had four, IV’s. in one arm and one in the other.

I underwent a Heart Catheterization, where the Dr. found my heart is only functioning at 15 %, I am very week.   Due to Renal Failure, I had to be placed on Dialysis. I underwent, another surgery to have port placed in my carotid artery for dialysis.  After a few days My port in my neck collapsed, I underwent, another surgery to have the dialysis, port then put in my chest above my heart.

I spent a Total of 18 days in ICU. The Dialysis took off 25 liters of fluid from my body, that equals out to 55.1 lbs. Wow! is all I can say to that.

I was told I could be placed on Heart and Kidney donor transplant list.  In my mind All I could think of is the dreams my wife and I have of retiring to the Smoky mountains and living out our days together there. We have been married for 23 years now come March 10, I want more than anything to be able to spend my 25th anniversary, with my wife in a Tiny 1bedroom cabin in the smokies. Now I don’t know if that will Happen.

I pray every day, God willing, that I get to see that day.  with my wife. The day we said our vowels I told her Now and Always. I’m giving it my best fight.

After 18 days I have been sent home in a Life Vest which is a Portable defibrillator to help keep me alive, I am on a very strict diet, and medicine, exercise, regiment to help strengthen, my heart.   At that time, I will undergo surgery for a permanent defibrillator placed in my heart.

I am asking to please help me cover living expenses, such as shelter, food, Utilities, gas to get me to my Drs’ appointments and medical bills so I can get Stronger.

My wife says she is not going to let me give up, she refuses she said, (quote) Dam It. We will, Have Now and Always I won’t settle for anything else she said.  We will do this together. I know I am living on God’s time. Please just help make it easier on my Wife. I know these are hard times for everyone, I have never been a person to ask for help, I have always been the one to help other’s Now I find myself, in the position I need Help.    So please anything, will help.

Sincerely      Paul D. Lovett,
