I am reaching out with a mix of vulnerability desperation and ultimately a heart full of hope. As a survivor of stage 4 rectal colon cancer, my battle scars run deep, particularly affecting my dental health. Following 9 infections within the last year and several extractions, and compromised treatments, my smile has suffered, leaving me with urgent dental needs that far exceed my financial capabilities.
As a stage 4 rectal colon cancer survivor, and while I have braved many challenges, today I seek your help to reclaim my smile and, with it, a piece of my spirit.
Cancer and its aftermath have taken much from me, but it has not quenched my desire to offer the best of myself to the world. Yet, the reflection I see doesn’t mirror the vibrancy I feel inside. My smile, once a symbol of warmth and connection, has become a source of deep insecurity and pain.
Despite diligent care and commitment, my dental health has severely deteriorated, leading to nine infections in the past year alone. Past dental treatments, marred by neglect, have left me with a constellation of cavities and the urgent need for multiple root canals, and many missing teeth. After being quoted a staggering $21,000 for necessary treatments—a sum far beyond my means while on disability—I found myself at a devastating impasse.
I do not wish to burden anyone with a tale of woe, but rather to express my sincere plea for assistance. Your expertise and kindness could be the turning point in my life. If your practice has the means to extend charity or consider a pro-bono smile makeover, it would be more than a cosmetic change—it would be a restoration of hope, a chance to engage with the world fully again.
I dream of the day when I can once again help others without self-consciousness shadowing my interactions. I am prepared for all possibilities, even full implants if deemed necessary, to achieve a state of health and confidence.
