My name is Jennifer, and I’m reaching out to share my journey with you. In 2021, I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. While some may refer to it as the “good cancer,” I can attest that the reality is far from easy. The physical and emotional toll it takes is overwhelming, compounded by the financial strain it leaves behind.
Over the past few years, I’ve undergone two surgeries and two rounds of radiation, with another round scheduled for June 2024. Each step of the way has come with significant medical expenses – surgeries, copays, doctor visits, lab work, scans – all of which have pushed me to the brink of financial ruin. Despite my best efforts, I’ve maxed out all my credit cards and now find myself drowning in $10,000 of medical debt.
Cancer doesn’t just affect one’s health; it impacts every aspect of life. I’ve had to continue working through radiation treatment because I simply can’t afford to lose any income. My greatest fear is having to choose between seeking medical care and providing for my two children, who depend on me for their well-being and future.
Today, I’m reaching out for help – a humbling experience for someone who’s not accustomed to asking for assistance. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a significant difference in alleviating the burden of medical debt and ensuring I receive the ongoing care I so desperately need.
