My name is Austin Rhoads and I go to New Life Church! I am attending a Missionary Trip to Guatemala in August 2024! I am going with an Ministry called Impacto! This is a medical mission meaning we are helping out the people of Guatemala with medical treatments/services that are normally not offered to the public population. In Guatemala, you can’t even buy over-the-counter pain medications like Tylenol, Motrin, Ibuprofin without going to a Doctor and being prescribed them.
Our previous trip to Guatemala in July 2023 we served hundreds of people and noticed that 95% of the children had worms and horrible ear infections! Around 80% of adults also had ear infections along with digestive issues! We helped by bringing our own Doctor from Maryland and partnering with another Doctor located in Guatemala to help diagnose and treat the people. We also gave people glasses to help with vision and gave people over-the-counter pain relief medication.
Most importantly we also prayed with the people and learned about their situations in order to better connect them with The Lord. We spread the word of God which brought everyone closer to Jesus and some of the people never got the chance to be even introduced to The Lord before our Mission. We spread the fruits of the Spirit onto babies, kids, teens, adults, and elderly people and you could see the impact that our Lord was having on them. The Lord brought us there specifically to help these amazing people and i’m so thankful that our God gives us the blessing to be blessings to others.
