Hello, my name is Elizabeth.  I have been on crutches since the third week of May.  I hit a doe and fawn on Mother’s Day.  This impacted my driving knee so gravely that I ended up needing to go to the ER a just a couple of days later, as my knee filled up like a balloon with fluid.  Luckily, I came to a stop all the way once I hit the fawn, but I was still going pretty fast when I hit the doe & it pushed my right headlight in enough, that it stopped working until I had it fixed a couple of days later.  I’m very glad I wasn’t doing the speed limit, 55, and was going more around 40 when they hoped out in front of me.  There was the forest, the country highway north, and then the lake & they really wanted to hit that water right awary.  Unfortunately they did a classic dear in the headlights moment in front of me.  I think in 12-17 feet I went from around 40 mph to close to zero.  However, the doe hit my hood and headlight and plopped of to the side of the road with an immediate death.  It was the fawn that suffered.  Two-and-a-half feet on the other side of momma was her fawn, also doing a dear-in-the-headlights look and freezing, and I hit the fawn, too!  The fawn made three quick attempts at standing, succeeded on the third and bounded back into the forest they’d came out of.  The next day, I returned to the scene and wandered around some in the sunny woods trying to pinpoint where the fawn may have landed.  If I could’ve found them, then I would’ve called fish and game to save their life.  Poor thing was probably around 8-13 months old.  The headlight is fixed, and the bumper tear is fixed quite well with some awesome duct tape, but the right knee, is for now, kaput.  After finally gaining the MRI needed, it seems that I not only have a medial meniscus tear that will require surgery in order for my knee to see any improvement– and now there is a large fragement floating around in there getting in the way of having range of motion for the joint, but there are a couple of additional things going on.  There is also a quadrant within the knee joint that has edema in it (which is the baker’s cyst type that will not go away without my orthopedic surgeon cleaning it up, as well as very rough cartilage under the patella that needs cleaning up and smoothing out.   My doctor unfortunately cannot get me in for surgery until next month, August.  The end of the month.  Good news is my mom is flying to MA to MI to take care of me for two weeks after the surgery, as my boyfriend will only be able to take about 2 days off of work around my surgery date.  Luckily, my mom is now retired– has time at the end of this summer– and was able to secure a way here 2 days before my surgery(!), until the day before Labor Day (Sept. 3rd).  Come mid-September I should be able to return to work.  In the meantime, things have been financially rough since the end of May.  They will be so for the summer, so I started searching on the internet how I might possibly ask the public for assistance and came across Givetaxfree.org.  I wanted to cry watching that deer video as I hit the main screen, as that is so my story, times two!  Thank you for taking the time to read this.  I really need any help possible at this time.  My boyfriend and I rent a house and I am not sure how to help my boyfriend with my share of the rent, nor my share of the utilities for the summer.  Thankfully, I think that my health insurance is going to cover most, but not all of this very expensive knee surgery– that I get at the end of next month.  Thank you for reading!  If you donate, thank you so much for helping my knee healing journey!  I wish love and light for your life.
