Ha pasado un año de mi accidente desde que tengo mi lesión medular y he tenido resultados muy significativos. Por ello necesito de su apoyo para continuar con mi rehabilitación para poder recuperarme lo mejor posible.
It has been a year since my accident since I had my spinal cord injury and I have had very significant results. That’s why I need your support to continue with my rehabilitation so I can recover as best as possible.

October 5th second outing from the Hospital to Starbucks Coffee with the rehabilitation staff of the Christine E. Lynn Center. My parents have been at my side every minute of this challenge in my life. Their support has been extremely important, and as a family we are trying to overcome this new challenge. We thank you for your support and I personally ask you to keep your donations coming, as I depend on them to hope to have a normal life again, even if it’s on a wheelchair…but you can make a difference in my future.
5 de octubre segunda salida del Hospital a Starbucks Coffee con el personal de rehabilitación del Centro Christine E. Lynn. Mis padres han estado a mi lado cada minuto de este desafío en mi vida. Su apoyo ha sido sumamente importante y como familia estamos tratando de superar este nuevo desafío. Les agradecemos su apoyo y personalmente les pido que sigan enviando sus donaciones, ya que dependo de ellas para tener la esperanza de tener una vida normal nuevamente, incluso si es en silla de ruedas…pero ustedes pueden marcar una diferencia en mi futuro.
Dear Family and Friends.
I am kindly asking for your help and support. My name is Gilberto Larach, I am 18 years old and on June 28, 2023, I suffered a terrible accident when I jumped headfirst into the sea, not aware that I was going to hit a sandbar. As a consequence, I suffered a fracture in the cervical C5 and C6 along with damaging part of C3 and C2. This tragic accident changed my whole life and that of my family. After my accident, thank God, I was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida, where I had surgery to stabilize my spine. They did a Tracheostomy in my neck and put a Percutaneous Endoscopic Jejunostomy (PEJ) feeding tube in my stomach. As a result of this accident, I damaged my spinal cord, which has led to a quadriplegic diagnosis. For those who are unfamiliar, this means paralysis of my four limbs, torso and deficits in my bowel and bladder function. This has left me, probably, in a wheelchair for life. However, I am grateful that I survived. I am alive, but need much more to recover my lung and body function after almost drowning at sea. My body, after being a very athletic person, is weakened. I am very conscious of my life altering injury, yet I believe and hope that my discipline and tenacious character will help me to overcome the consequences of this terrible accident.
I have lost control of my body, but not my mind. I am in dire need of a power wheelchair and other adaptive equipment that I can control either with my chin or by eyeglasses to regain some type of independence. The therapies will be an ongoing part of my life.
I ask for your kind financial support and prayers to get my power wheelchair and very much needed therapy to help me succeed in this challenge that life has put in my path. My desire to live and recover is very strong, and with God’s help I will succeed. It is a long way to recovery, but with my determination and your kind support, I can reach my goal. Les pido amablemente su ayuda y apoyo. Mi nombre es Gilberto Larach, tengo 18 años y el 28 de junio de 2023 sufrí un terrible accidente al lanzarme de cabeza al mar, sin saber que iba a chocar contra un banco de arena. Como consecuencia sufrí una fractura en las cervicales C5 y C6 además de dañar parte de C3 y C2. Este trágico accidente cambió toda mi vida y la de mi familia. Después de mi accidente, gracias a Dios, fui transportado al Jackson Memorial Hospital en Miami, Florida, donde me operaron para estabilizar mi cuello. Me hicieron una traqueotomía y me pusieron una sonda de alimentación de yeyunostomía endoscópica percutánea (PEJ) en el estómago. Como consecuencia de este accidente, me dañé la médula espinal, lo que me ha llevado a un diagnóstico de cuadripléjico. Para aquellos que no están familiarizados, esto significa parálisis de mis cuatro extremidades, torso y déficits en la función intestinal y vesical. Esto me ha dejado, probablemente, en una silla de ruedas de por vida. Sin embargo, estoy agradecido de haber sobrevivido. Estoy vivo, pero necesito mucho más para recuperar la función pulmonar y corporal después de casi ahogarme en el mar. Mi cuerpo, después de ser una persona muy deportista, está debilitado. Soy muy consciente de que mi lesión cambiará mi vida, pero creo y espero que mi disciplina y mi carácter tenaz me ayudarán a superar las consecuencias de este terrible accidente.
He perdido el control de mi cuerpo, pero no de mi mente. Necesito urgentemente una silla de ruedas eléctrica y otros equipos de adaptación que pueda controlar con la barbilla o con anteojos para recuperar algún tipo de independencia. Las terapias serán una parte continua de mi vida.
Les pido su amable apoyo financiero y oraciones para conseguir mi silla de ruedas eléctrica y la terapia que tanto necesito para ayudarme a tener éxito en este desafío que la vida ha puesto en mi camino. Mi deseo de vivir y recuperarme es muy fuerte y con la ayuda de Dios lo lograré. Es un largo camino hacia la recuperación, pero con mi determinación y su amable apoyo, puedo alcanzar mi objetivo.
