In September 2022, our family gathered to celebrate the wedding of our youngest son. Our older daughters and their new husbands (2019 and 2021) live in Wyoming and Tennessee, with the youngest of the girls living here in Manhattan, KS. Being together means the world to us, but this holiday season will bring a different kind of together. As a family, we will fight cancer. Shortly after the wedding, Erick was diagnosed with throat cancer, a sad surprise in a happy season. His treatment, including radiation and chemotherapy, will take place over 7+ weeks at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. We are choosing to save money by taking advantage of the free lodging at the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge as long as it’s a viable option. However, frequent travel, additional lodging expenses, medical bills, and the care of our home and two Siberian huskies will add up over the next year. The funds donated will be dedicated exclusively to these various expenses. We welcome your help as our family and community pull together to work though this difficult time.
