- At the end of last September, Julie and I became ill with covid. I got better, but my sister remained ill. She was very weak and always tired. Bloodwork showed her to be very anemic. She was put on high doses of iron. It didn’t help.
- The testing began. Endoscopy, colonoscopy, looking for a bleed. On November 9th, she had the first CT scan. This showed enlarged lymph nodes. She was sent to an Oncologist. A biopsy was done on November 30th. On December 1st she was told she has stage 4 lymphoma. She began chemo on December 20th. She will have chemo treatments for 6 months. If that wasn’t bad enough, her husband of 35 years passed away on January 2nd of this year. Her husband, Kevin was diagnosed with dementia 5 years ago, at only 60 years old. Julie had to quit her job to care for Kevin. They were living on Kevin’s SSI disability and a small pension from the shipyard. The SSI has stopped. The pension was canceled in Kevin’s name and has to be rewritten to Julie. It could three months or longer In the mean time Julie has no income. She isn’t able to work, she is just too ill. She has applied for disabilty. Approval could take 90 days or longer. if she is approved. She has Nothing. No income. In December she found out she has Cancer. In January she lost her husband. No amount is too small. Thank you and have a great day
