My name is Trista, and just before Christmas, my husband Chad was having pain and swelling in his leg. he went to the doctor and was treated for a blood clot. At his follow up visit from the blood clot his doctor found a large nodule on his thyroid, and he ended up getting an ultrasound which found he had a large almost 5 cm lump on his thyroid. The next step was to have it biopsied to see if it was benign or not. Unfortunately, shortly after Christmas, we were given the news that he has malignant papillary thyroid cancer. He will need to have his entire thyroid removed and potentially will need radiation therapy. He will be on thyroid medication for the rest of his life.
The reason I am seeking financial help is we cannot afford the medical bills and to cover our personal bills during his recovery. We both work full-time my husband as a maintenance mechanic and myself as a medical assistant. We have a 4-year-old daughter in daycare that is almost double the cost of our mortgage and neither of us has good benefits. He will need to be out of work 2 weeks with no pay as he does not qualify for short-term disability and his job does not offer much pto and zero sick time. I am currently in school to become an RN so I work as much as I can but in the coming months, I will need to cut back which will make our ability to pay the bills more strenuous. I understand there are people in far worse situations than ours and much more deserving of the help, and we would be so humbled by any assistance. I appreciate the consideration of helping my family through this difficult time.
