For the 5 months (May to Sept) before being rushed to the hospital my mobility and vision was deteriorating. I was beginning to have very bad difficulty writing or even typing. On Sept. 11, 2022, I was rushed to the hospital due to collapse of the function of my right side, almost causing a fall. I was quickly diagnosed with a Brain Tumor and had a successful 4 and a 1/2 hour surgery on Sept. 14. Needless to say the hospital bill was tremendous. I haven’t yet received the ambulance bill which I expect will be about $900. Aetna (Medicare PPO) paid a great amount of the Hospital bill, doctor bills and Radiation Therapy bills combined total bills of approx. $380,000. However being on Social Security I still have a sum for just the Hospital of about $3500.00 that will be very difficult to afford. The Hospital is requesting a payment plan of over $500 a month until May 2023. My budget cannot bear this amount. I am still receiving Radiation Therapy with more bills to be generated for the remaining 8 sessions and another MRI scheduled for December 2022 ($250 out of pocket). My Physical Therapy is ongoing soon being billed at $35.00 out of pocket per session (at least 2 sessions a week) for as long as needed. I continue to have complications with Heart Failure and I am in the Medicare Prescription “Donut Hole” for my Entresto Prescription, which means my 90 day refill will cost over $500.00 I am living alone in Toccoa GA in a “Fixer-upper”. Luckily I have a grand daughter not too far away in Lakemont GA. She visited me every day in the hospital. What an angel. Her and her boyfriend stayed at my home for 3 weeks to help me recover. They cleaned my house and helped me with many small projects. So as you can see, any help will be greatly appreciated.
