Update 6/23/2023

Birki is still improving a little each day.  She still has a wound vac for a sore she developed from 3 months in bed.  The nurse had said it would be healed by now.  Until that happens, she is limited in what she is able to do in PT  Please pray that this happens soon.

God bless you for giving.  The need is still there for sitter and supplies.  She has not received all bills related to her hospital stay.  We are praying for some compromise on that as this was supposed to be an in and out procedure that is now going on 5 months.

Update 6/12/23:  Birki’s miracle continues to unfold.  Baby steps, but so much better than when she first got home.  Still has a wound vac and needs 24/7 assistance.  While the fund has been a God-send to help with sitters and her co-pay for her rehab stay, it is about to be depleted I fear.  Please consider a contribution as she is months away from a full recovery.  God bless you.  Birki still needs your prayers.  Her goal right now is to be well enough to get her baby dog Coconut back home.  Kudos to We Talk Dogs for waiving thousands in kennel fees after Coconut had been there for months.  Also Jane and Bruce Bush took Coconut in when Birki needed them the most.

Update:

Birki has been home 12 days and has volunteers and paid sitters with her 24/7.  She is progressing slowly but that was expected.  Please keep her in your prayers.  Thank you for your generosity.  We still need more funding.  Please share this campaign.  God bless you and God bless Birki.

Birki went to the hospital for a routine laporascopic surgery on 2/22/2023. She went home but was rushed to the ER on 2/26. A second surgery was required to drain blood and look for a perforation in the intestines. None was found but drains were installed as a precaution and did show leakage somewhere. Since then she has had ARDS, pneumonia, sepsis, and was intubated for more than 10 days. Some days were touch and go.

By God’s grace and the prayers of many, she survived the ordeal, but has a long way to go to be able to take care of herself.

She is currently in a skilled nursing facility, insurance will not pay for the inpatient nursing care much longer, and she will  need caregivers, as she lives alone.  Additionally, copays continue to accrue and are significant, and she likely hasn’t even received all of the bills related to her extended hospital stay.  Thank you all.
