I am taking care of a 28-year-old man, Who has been homeless four times now. His life has been a tragic story. He spent most of his childhood in foster care, where he was shuffled from one house to another until 18. At this point, he was put out of the system. A system that diagnosed him with OCD ADD ADHD severe anxiety dyslexia Autism and developmentally disabled. We believe he has Prader-willie syndrome, (Where he is constantly hungry). He has no income SSD denied him SSI is still pending. His syndrome causes him to lie steal and forage in trash cans or the pet food dish. Everything has to be locked up and monitored because if left unsupervised he will literally eat himself to death. He needs clothes, and this is extremely expensive because he is 369 pounds. When he showed up at my place his legs were blue and purple and swollen to 3 times their normal size. He is also a type 2 diabetic with sleep apnea. I have gotten him medical help through clinic with a heart a free clinic . But he needs a psych eval and a intellectual eval. I have taken him to 5 different places now. And none can see him for these until Nov 2023. He has deep childhood trauma from being in foster care and more so because his father got his siblings out but left him, He was also sexually assualt during that time. He also has other issuse like you have to tell him to bathe pick up trash in his room and how to eat properly . I can not continue to care for him at the rate he is going . All these aid programs have massive waiting lists and I myself am disabled and aging . I need money to keep him until he can be given a para or assigned a caretaker for daycare. I am in the process of become his legal guardian but there are legal fees. He needs day programs , I need a car to transport him as well, his weight has taken out my suspension. So most likely a small truck. I need locks for the fridge trash cans, pet food containers and cameras, A new bed for him because the used one I was able to get him is collapsing from his weight. I am so disgusted with the system both medical and social. He should never be left on his own .
