Hi, my name is Belkis Gomez, and I am currently on the liver transplant list. I’m reaching out for help to cover my mounting medical bills and the expenses that will come after my transplant.
I’m 38 years old and have always been a free spirit, facing life’s challenges with resilience and humor. My journey has not been easy—I have struggled with alcoholism since the age of 14, a battle that shaped much of my life. At 14, I also became a mother to a beautiful daughter, but with my own struggles, I didn’t know how to be the mother she deserved.
Despite my hardships, I fought to build a better life. I earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and sociology, bought my own home by 23, and pursued a career as a CPS investigator, dedicated to protecting children. But addiction continued to pull me back. I have always worked and found ways to support myself, but my struggles with addiction meant I never saved for the future.
Even through my challenges, my heart has always been in helping others. I have volunteered with hurricane relief efforts, Dress for Success, and domestic violence support programs. I know what it’s like to struggle, and giving back has been my way of making a difference. I especially love working with children because I understand the hardships they face—I was once that struggling child myself.
I was projected to live only three months, but by some miracle, I now have a chance at a liver transplant. This is my second chance—not just at life, but at fulfilling my purpose. I dream of going back to school for a master’s degree in criminology or social work so I can continue to serve and uplift others. I want to return to my work in child protection, to be a voice for those who need it most.
If you find it in your heart to donate, no amount is too small. Your support will help me cover medical expenses and given the foundation to rebuild my life. More than anything, I appreciate your kindness, prayers, and well wishes.
Best Regards,
Belkis Gomez
