Due to a change in his living situation, Donald will be moving into some type of independent living facility in June. He will continue to stay in the Pennsylvania area, near his sister and family. We’re hoping that he can thrive in a facility where he can engage in activities, make new friends, and become as healthy as possible.
It has been 3 years since he had stroke(s). Unfortunately, he has not shown any improvement. He continues to be physically weak, cognitively impaired, and has not been able to work (therefore, has no income). He will need to live in a facility that offers some assistance (meals, med reminders, etc). He has been denied social security disability payments twice already. We are hopeful that his disability appeal will be approved soon (with the help of a lawyer), but that could take up to 6 to 9 months.
In the meantime, I decided to create this fundraiser to help reduce his financial burdens. Any amount that you can give will be a blessing to him (and to us, his family). These funds will be used to pay for rent, food, and other supplies that he will need. He might also need to hire a caretaker part-time.
We had hoped to see him recover and get back on his feet, but the process has been slow. He may need assistance for the long-term. We are taking this step-by-step. Your prayers and support, as always, are always appreciated. Thank you so much for your care and concern for Donald (and us).
