In Northwest Ohio, there is an overabundance of cats in our neighborhoods. At Stray Cat Sanctuary our mission is to help stray cats as well as our neighborhood by providing veterinary services for stray cats.
In order to control the cat population and the spread of disease we have taken several stray cats to the local vet clinic to have them vaccinated and spayed/neutered.
There are people who think removing the cats is the solution, however this creates a territorial opening (also known as the vacuum effect). The vacuum effect has been documented worldwide in many species. Removing cats from an area may cause a temporary decrease in the cat population, but more cats will take their place. That is why we are initiating the Trap/Neuter-Spay/Release system.
We currently have fifteen cats still in need of spay/neutering and vaccinations. We are providing shelter and food while they await their appointments.
We have 3 cat houses and 2 carriers, we would benefit from having more. We would also like to get indoor cages for the cats to stay in while they recover from their surgery.
Among the cats we have treated, there have been eye infections, ear mites, and of course worms. All of these need to be treated, along with the regular immunizations and rabies shots. While the vet is working with us on payment arrangements, we still need your help.
Please consider donating, we are a 501(c)3 organization and your gift will not only be tax deductible, but will also help control the stray cat population and immune any diseases they may be carrying.
