Shane has been battling a brain tumor for 8 years. He recently became a single dad but a few nights ago we were told he had 2 weeks or less to live. We- the grandparents have moved him in and is now on hospice. He has asked us to take custody of his 2 small boys that are 10 mo and 3 yrs old. We have nothing for these boys and want to make sure they are secure. Being that there is no chance of survival for Shane this is the least we can do. We want to make sure we keep our promise. However, this is financially draining. We are trying to give them the things they need the best we can.
Until we can get services in place for the boys, we still need to provide their basic needs. We also want to start a trust fund for them that will provide financial assistance in the future. We also have a granddaughter we have been raising for 10 yrs who is 10 along with my father that is on palliative care with end stage COPD. as anyone can imagine, this is a heavy blow and the expenses are overwhelming. We won’t allow them to go to the state as this was tried through CPS. We stepped up and will give them a structured, loving and happy home.
