Hello, my name is Vernal Booker , and I’m from San Francisco, CA. I’m reaching out to support my brother, Charles, who recently suffered a heartbreaking loss due to the Altadena fire. Tragically, Charles lost his home something he worked tirelessly to build and all of his belongings. Now, he’s facing an incredibly difficult road ahead.
At the time of the fire, Charles was away visiting his daughter, who had just welcomed beautiful twin babies. He had planned to stay for two months to help her care for the newborns, never imagining he wouldn’t be able to return home. By the morning of January 8th, everything he had worked for was gone.
Charles and I have been close for over 30 years. He was a senior when I was in college, and from the start, he made sure to bring everyone along with him. His kindness is unmatched, and one of the things I admire most is how he consistently puts God first in everything he does. To me, he’s more than just a brother. Charles is honest, trustworthy, and has always been there for me and everyone around him, even when others I trusted turned their backs on me. I will never forget how he supported me through my toughest times.
Right now, Charles is staying with a friend in Pasadena, but the emotional and financial strain of starting over from scratch is overwhelming. No donation is too small, and each one will have a significant impact as he begins this long and difficult journey.
