We are starting this Campaign for a dear friend, Rick Taylor, who is a hard-working responsible single parent; currently facing an overwhelmingly challenging time in his life. This man has been hit with one tragedy after another and I am amazed at his strength and courage to overcome each obstacle. He is so deserving of help.
PLEASE READ HIS STORY:
Earlier this year, Rick was forced to take a couple of weeks off from work, due to pain and numbness in his lower extremities. After undergoing several tests, he was diagnosed with Degenerative Neuropathy. At the same time, he noticed some changes on his skin and after seeing a dermatologist and having 3 biopsies done, two weeks ago he was diagnosed with skin cancer. Two of the biopsies came back as melanoma (skin cancer). Now they are telling him that the other one is a malignant tumor.
He is scheduled for three surgeries on March 8, 2023. One is to cut open the groin area and remove two lymph nodes. The second one is to remove the melanoma on his back and the third one is to remove the malignant melanoma by his right shin. Then the plastic surgeon is going to cover his open wound by his shin with a skin graft and attach a wound drain. Once all this is done, we will know what stage the cancer is in and if it has spread. This is all very scary stuff, and we are very worried about him ☹
On top of this, Rick lost the mother to their son Bradley, almost two years ago due to cardiac arrest. This meant that he would now have to take on the responsibility of single parenting, along with the burden of being the sole provider for his family.
Besides Bradley, Rick has 2 other sons, Justin and Ricki, that have sadly not been a part of his life due to distance and complicated circumstances. He has missed them incredibly over the years, and he wants to use this opportunity to express his deep love for each one and involve them in his story. All 3 of his sons, so very special and dear to his heart; are his greatest motivator in this journey to beat cancer. Nothing is more important to Rick than rebuilding their relationship, being a part of their lives and making sure that they know he is there for them. Rick has to win this fight so he can continue to be the caring father they deserve. Your generosity can help make a difference in their lives, ensuring that Rick will have the best opportunity to heal from his surgeries, so he can see his boys again and make it possible for them to create many more precious memories that they will all cherish forever.
I am happy to share with you, that last Saturday, Rick was able to reconnect with his 2 older sons, Justin and Ricki, and meet for the first time, in too many years. This is a huge step towards a new beginning and healing their relationship. It was pouring rain that day and despite the terrible weather, nothing was going to stand in the way of this important event. His sons insisted on making the long drive in the rain.
He wants them to know how grateful he is for making this possible and that they both are so appreciated and loved. He wouldn’t have missed it for the world! Rick is hoping to have several more wonderful years to share with them.
Rick has had to miss a lot of days at work, due to his medical issues. He is very worried about losing his job and about finances (mortgage, utility bills, food, medical bills etc.) And as if this wasn’t enough, the microwave stopped working two days ago…. sigh. Fortunately, we were able to pick up another one for $50.
It’s just been one thing after another. His plate is so unbelievably full. And just when Rick thought that he couldn’t take any more sad news….. His 13-year-old diabetic Husky (requiring 2 insulin shots daily. morning and night) named Zoey (pictured above), sadly passed away unexpectedly last week, totally breaking his heart. She was such a special and beautiful part of the family. Rick is devastated and still mourning her loss. It has been heartbreaking to watch ☹ Several of us pitched in to pay to have his beloved, Zoey, picked up and cremated. Rick is an avid animal lover, and it was important for him to have her ashes. We were able to make that possible.
Buddie, is also a part of their family; a beautiful and sweet German Sheppard mix. He is 12 years old and unfortunately, experiencing hip dysplasia.
As you can see, WE HAVE TO HELP Rick get through this challenging time. Rick is a strong and proud man. But he realizes that he is headed for financial disaster and the last thing he needs to have in his life is more stress and worry. I think that most people would have buckled under the pressure but as hard as it is, he gets up every day, goes to work and does the best he can.
After the surgery, the doctors told him that he will need to be off his feet for a minimum of 4 – 6 weeks to fully recover. During this time, he will not be able to work, which will put a huge financial strain on his family. As a single parent, Rick doesn’t have anyone else to rely on for support. Between his mortgage, medical expenses, car payments, food for the house, utility bills etc., he is going to need about $18,852 to make ends meet for the next few months. Rick is such a good person, a hard worker and a proud man. He would never consider asking for help. I know that he is embarrassed that we are starting this fund for him. But he knows he needs help, or he is not going to make it through these next few months. Hopefully, the cancer has not spread, and they will be able to manage it.
We are not sure how this campaign process works but I have heard stories of Miracles that have happened because of it, so I am going to put all my faith in the Kindness and Generosity of people like you and that’s why I’m asking for your help. We need a Miracle!! Pretty Please! Your donation, no matter how big or small, will go a long way in helping Rick and his family get back on their feet. The money we raise will go towards paying for medical bills, rent, utilities, groceries, and other basic necessities. We want to make sure that Rick can focus on his health and recovery without worrying about how he will provide for his family and pets. Rick is one of the most kind-hearted and generous people I know. I am so proud of him, and I cannot say enough good things about this man. He deserves all the help and support he can get. Please donate what you can and share this page with your friends and family. Every little bit helps, and we are incredibly grateful for your support.
As soon as Rick is on his feet again, he will absolutely “Pay it Forward” and help someone else who is desperately in need. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and for your generosity in supporting Rick during this challenging time. This is so important, and I believe in the goodness of people and have faith that everyone will want to help.
Prayers are much appreciated. Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart.
