A member of our community, a neighbor, and a friend, Stephen “Rusty” Keasler suffered a hemorrhagic stroke on September 23, 2023, and remains in the intensive care unit at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction.

As a young man, Rusty was an Eagle Scout in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he developed a passion for the outdoors. Later in life, he spent many years, both in New Orleans and Baton Rouge, attending Louisiana State University. To this day, he continues to be an avid Saints and Tigers fan. Rusty also enjoys skiing in the winter, camping, rafting, fishing and an occasional golf game, and is an amazing cook—in true Cajun style, his favorite food on the planet is blackened redfish with shrimp étouffée.

Rusty moved to the Roaring Fork valley to embrace the mountain lifestyle. You have likely met Rusty at New York Pizza serving you a slice of pizza, delivering a pie to your door, or even better, on one of the local rivers as he is an avid whitewater rafter!

While health insurance assists with the medical bills, the remaining expenses are steadily increasing. The lingering effects of the stroke will also require costly therapy and rehabilitation to assist in Rusty’s recovery. While Rusty focuses on his recovery, he will also need assistance with living expenses.

We, as friends, neighbors, and community members, are asking you to contribute towards his medical fund to aid in Rusty’s long road to recovery. Please consider making a tax-deductible contribution to his medical fund to assist with his living and medical expenses.
