Rodney Hastings, 57, unexpectedly collapsed at his home and was taken to the Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center, in Torrance, CA. After almost 3-days in a coma, he passed on January 16, 2018 at 4:04 pm.
Rodney did not have life insurance and there are no proceeds from his estate to cover funeral expenses.
Throughout his life, Rodney has always been a generous and selfless person. He was pre-registered as an organ donor and even at the end of his life several of his critical organs were donated to bring precious life to others. That is just how he was.
Local memorial services were held Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 4:00 PM in Wayfarers Chapel, 5755 Palos Verdes Dr S, Rancho Palos Verdes, near his home in Southern California. The stone and glass sanctuary overlooks the shores of the Pacific Ocean and was filled beyond capacity, as friends and family came from near and far to say goodbye.
A simple celebration of life reception followed, where many stories and experiences were shared about Rodney and how he helped everyone that he came in contact with.
Rodney will be transported to Belmont Memorial Park, Fresno, California, where he will be placed to rest aside his mother, Beverly. This date will be announced in the near future.
Rodney leaves a loving 15-year-old daughter, also named Beverly, who dreams of becoming a neonatal physician, and her 23-year old sister Franchesca.
We are respectfully seeking your generosity to help our Rodney complete one last lap around the track and make this final journey home and to help bridge the gap left by the devastating early loss of a beloved and devoted father.
This Fund will be utilized to cover expenses related to Rodney’s local and final funeral and, if possible, to start an educational trust fund which will become the foundation for Beverly’s university education. Any donation, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated.
