It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Roger, Brookhollow’s longtime maintenance tech and one of the most familiar and beloved faces of our park.
For over two decades, Roger cared for these grounds as if they were his own — and in many ways, they were. He found genuine joy in the park’s nature and quiet beauty, and had a particular fondness for the ducks he’d greet on his rounds, whom he was convinced knew him right back. Even with a golf cart at his disposal, Roger preferred to walk the property, often logging thousands of steps a day tending to the countless small things that kept Brookhollow running smoothly. On weekends, he’d double that with his true passion — salsa dancing — and he loved nothing more than teaching the moves to anyone willing to learn.
Roger was a devoted son, caring for his mother and finding real joy in having her by his side. That same warmth showed up in everything he did here, from the way he tended the gardens to the way he looked out for the community he considered family.
Roger was diagnosed with cancer a few weeks ago, following a decline in his health over the past year. He passed peacefully, surrounded by care and support.
In recognition of his many years of dedicated service, the Association has approved funding to help support Roger’s family during this time.
Roger’s presence around Brookhollow — the golf cart rides, the wave hello, the stories about the ducks — will be deeply missed. Thank you, Roger, for two decades of quiet, faithful care for this place and everyone in it.
