I’m asking for donations to help my Dad get back to walking. My Mom is a full time caregiver for my Dad, and she’s doing everything in her power to help him regain all that he has lost. He started water therapy June 2022, it was really helping him with his mobility, however it was short lived, he found out that he had cancer.
In 2019, my Dad had brain surgery to remove a tumor the size of my fist. Surgery lasted 19 hours, a week in the hospital, 30 days in rehabilitation and then home to recover. He lost his hearing in one ear, lost his sight in an eye, lost his ability to walk and had a paralyzed vocal cord. He regained his sight, hearing will never return, they injected fillers to help with the vocal cords damage. We are still working on mobility.
We started recovery with Physical therapy for another 9 months, we were on the path to recovery, so we thought. A year to the date of the first surgery, right after we completed physical therapy, his legs got really heavy, we rushed him to the hospital, and a day later, spinal surgery.
He had spinal surgery, but this recovery was not so easy. 18 hours of surgery, a month in the hospital, 45 days of Rehabilitaion, but not a lot of recovery.
We exhausted our Physical therapy with our insurance, so we got a therapist that will help us at home because it’s still hard to get him to a facility.
We are trying to add water therapy at home, we are looking to adding a hot tub at home to help with the spasticity in his legs. We have tried a few inexpensive options; however, he has to have steps, and the cheaper option doesn’t work for us.
Our goal is to get him back to walking and out of his wheelchair at least part of the day. He’s a disabled veteran, 58 years old with a great family and we really want to do everything possible to help him
