Our mom, and Nana, Rona Kelly has spent her entire life giving – giving her time, her energy, her wisdom, her love — without ever asking for anything in return. She’s the matriarch, the steady hand, the safe place. Now, at 70 years old, she is facing the hardest battle of her life: Stage 3C ovarian cancer.
Anyone who knows her knows she is strong, but this diagnosis has shaken us to our cores. Ovarian cancer is often called the “silent” cancer because it’s usually detected late. It’s also one of the most underfunded and under-discussed cancers, despite how devastating it can be. Women facing this diagnosis are often presented with limited options and feel pressured into conventional treatments that can come with extremely harsh side effects, high risks for those, like our mom, with an auto immune disease, and have a significant impact on quality of life short & long-term.
After deep research and thoughtful consideration, our mom has chosen a world-renowned integrative cancer clinic with staggering success, in Arizona that focuses on supporting the whole body, evidence-based cutting edge therapies with advanced supportive care. Her goal is not just to fight the cancer, but to preserve her strength, dignity, and quality of life throughout this journey. Her treatment is a 4 week intensive treatment plus 1-2 treatments each year.
Unfortunately, private insurance companies do not cover any clinic outside of standard care, which is an incredible financial burden. The treatments, travel, and extended care are 100% out of pocket. Her 4 adult children, and 5 grandchildren have taken on the task of providing the financials, so she can focus on her health and beating cancer.
This is incredibly hard for her, because she has always been the one helping others — never the one asking for help. We never dreamed we’d ever be in this position.
If you know our mom, you know her kindness has touched countless lives. She is the woman who shows up, who makes meals for all the neighborhood kids, who listens without judgment, who gives the best advice, who prays for everyone, who remembers birthdays, who holds everything together. She is our foundation.
Now we are asking, humbly, for support on her behalf. Every donation — no matter the size — will go directly toward her integrative cancer treatments and related medical expenses. If you’re unable to give, sharing this page and keeping her in your prayers means more than we can say. All donations are also tax deductible.
We believe in her strength. We believe in her fight. And most of all, we believe in surrounding her with the same love she has poured into others her entire life.
Thank you for being part of her village during this incredibly difficult time.
With gratitude and hope,
The Kelly Family
