Hi, my name is Kelly aka “Junebug” Bayer. I am an artist and veterinary technician in training and I am putting myself through school to become a registered Veterinary Technician with the goal of building a more financially secure future.
I am fundraising to help cover the cost of the rabies vaccine (~$800) which is a requirement of my veterinary technician degree program, Penn Foster. This cost poses an extreme financial hardship for me, and I am seeking assistance from anyone who is willing to help out a gal who is working real hard to serve her community and achieve her dreams.
In addition to working at my community’s only 24 ER-specialty hospital as a Surgery Scrub Assistant, I am also a folk musician, playing at senior centers, cafes, and as a hospice musical volunteer. My adorable pug dog Fonty (photo included), who I adopted as a puppy from my work, is also a hospice volunteer, bringing joy and comfort to folks in the community who need it most.
My school recently implemented a requirement for students to get vaccinated against rabies as a preventative measure. Unfortunately, my school provides no financial assistance for this, my insurance does not cover it, and my work has declined to help cover the costs. At my wage ($19.25 for transparency’s sake), I do not qualify for any low-income assistance programs for the rabies vaccine–though I could certainly use it–which is a 2 part vaccine. Each round of the vaccine costs ~$400, so in total it cost me ~$800 to receive the vaccine. This expense was not expected and has put a great strain on my financial situation.
Any assistance to offset the cost of this vaccine is greatly appreciated and will help me on my path to becoming a registered veterinary technician with a greater earning potential.
Sincerely,
Kelly “Junebug” Bayer
