I was diagnosed with breast cancer on Jan.31st, 2025. On Feb.21st,2024, I had a lumpectomy on my left breast to remove cancer, lymph nodes, and some tissue to test. Got the call that there was no cancer in the nodes, BUT the tissue showed a large margin of cancer cells. o, that means off with the breast. I decided to do a double mastectomy because another test showed I was at high risk of getting cancer again. I have been off work since Feb. 20th, 2025. I did go back to work part-time between then and this surgery. I am a hard worker and find it very hard to ask for help of any kind. with this little block in the road, I cannot work for at least June; at least, that is my prayer. I will be starting chemo, and I will have to have reconstruction surgery. I work at the USPS, but because I have only been there a year and a half, I do not have any benefits to help with this time off. Od is good, and I know I will get through this with him. My husband works, but he will be taking time to help with recovery. I will return to work as soon as I can get around on my own. but I am super nervous about how to pay the bills, meaning house payments and loans.
