I would like to preface this with saying I more than honored to even be considered…..
My name is Casey Shinn I have been diagnosed with stage three breast cancer (12/29/2023). I am having a double mastectomy on 2/22/2024. Prior to this i was caring for my grandmother who was bedridden it was twenty four .. seven day a week obligation, therefor i was unable to work an actual job (not saying she was not work) she recently passed at 93 years old and then i was diagnosed with breast cancer. It has been a non stop whirlwind of MRI’s, bloodwork, cat scans and bone scans. My family has been quite supportive but I am going to be laid up for a moment and possible chemotherapy. I am asking for this assistance for things I am going to need such as…health and beauty aids like wipes, something for my hair it is falling out already, deodorant, toothpaste. Also gas for people who are driving me to my follow ups while I can not drive, car insurance, phone bill and my aunt has been carrying the whole mortgage since my grandmother and uncle has passed so I would like to contribute in that way. I hate feeling like a burden and I very much do now. I am scared and stressed out, depressed as well. I would be ever so grateful for any help and please believe as soon as I can I will pay it forward i am a huge believer in karma and treating others how you want to be treated. I am told I have a good heart and I’d like to think I do. My best friend Adele (RIP) used to say “do you know that person?” Because I always smile at people and say hello. She was straight South Philly so she was kinda hard edged but we balanced one another out. I know it sounds like a lot of people have passed on me this past year but please know I have three amazing children, my cousin who is my partner in crime (not really but if i was to say the sky was purple or green she would be like the sky is purple or green), my auntie, my father but he is in Florida and is quite ill himself and a lot of caring friends. My mother dipped out on me when I was 19, I have not seen or spoken to her since. I know it seems I am talking a lot regarding myself but I would like you to know who I am….
I have skateboarded since I was 11 not so much now but my children skate (very good by the way…since they were seven and 5…. their father was professional). I love sports No. one…Football, No. two basketball and No. three baseball. All Philadelphia teams always. I have been a tomboy forever most of my friends are males. I was raised fishing starting at like six with my grandfather. I love to read and write. I love watching movies and binge watching stupid shows. I am obsessed with TikTok, I do not make videos on my account but I can be seen on my daughter’s every now and then (she says she gets more likes when I am on there). I have been learning to cook from scratch from my auntie (I was raised on boxes bags n cans). I love music I listen to it all of the time, i feel like I have a soundtrack for my life and it is so eclectic I go from punk to emo to classic rock hip hop R&B….no one knows what they are going to hear when they are around me. I was an avid gym goer before all of this, can not wait to get back.
I love being around my family…..swear we could be a reality show lol….
