This fund raising campaign is trying to raise $10,000 for an orphanage/home that our church and a few other churches are helping to build in Mexicali Mexico. The money will be used for:

  • The local government is asking for $5,000 for a signature to connect the house’s electricity to the utility pole that is only 20 yards from the house that is being built. You can draw your own conclusions as to why they are asking for so much money, but this is the situation being faced.
  • Finish stucco on house
  • Bathroom fixtures; shower, vanities
  • Furniture for the house
  • Outside play structure and maybe a basketball court so the children have more than bare dirt to play on.

As you can see from the pictures, the house is not finished, but it can be livable if the electricity can be connected.

The husband and wife who run the orphanage, Mario and Rosa, have two children of their own and 13 orphans they’ve taken in.  Mario and Rosa provide a loving Christian home for these children.  I’ve seen with my own eyes the joyful environment these children are being raised in.

Currently all 17 live in a two room house in Mexicali Mexico that a Christian man has been providing at an affordable rent.  When this man’s wife, who is not a believer, found out some American churches were building a house for the orphanage, she put the house where Mario and Rosa are currently living up for sale.  They now have to be out of that house on November 30. The real unfortunate issue at hand is that some of the young girls who live with Mario and Rosa have endured unspeakable things while in other orphanages.  There is a well-founded fear by people working with the orphanage on this project that if the electricity is not connected when they must move into their new house, the local government may take the children and put them into other orphanages.  Please pray that does not happen. In Christ, Wayne Feagley
