My name is Alisha Vesterby. This year has been especially challenging for me medically. Last month, I had to receive iron infusions due to critically low iron levels. Unfortunately, the daily supplements I take are no longer enough to keep me from becoming anemic.
Anemia can be extremely challenging, as it causes severe fatigue, hair loss, headaches, and heart palpitations. The chest pain became bad enough that I ended up in the emergency room in October. While these symptoms would normally limit the amount of activity a person can manage, I continued working full time and attending school full time while dealing with the side effects of this condition.
This is the first time I have ever considered creating a GiveTaxFree campaign for myself. I didn’t realize how expensive the infusions would be, but they were not something I could choose to go without. With the current cost of living, I’m not in a position to take on this unexpected medical debt. I waited to share this fundraiser until I had the final billing for the services so that I would not request more money than what is needed to cover the cost of the infusions.
