UPDATE:
11/17/23 I had the biopsy yesterday (wow it hurts more than I thought it would). The doctor said it’s probably benign but who knows. They said I should have my results next week. So please if you can help me with these expenses, I’d really appreciate it.
I had five maternal aunts who all had breast cancer. For years (my early 30s), I asked doctors to give me a mammogram. They never would. So I gave up asking.
At my last physical, my doctor said I should have one done as I am now over 45 (I explained to him how my last doctor didn’t ever order them for me even with my family history). I had that first mammogram in October. The doctor said that there was a spot on my left breast she wanted to see again. So last week, I went in for a second mammogram. The doctor then decided an ultra sound was needed, which happened immediately.
Based on the results of that ultra sound, she now wants to do a biopsy. It is scheduled for mid November. My insurance tells me that they will only cover part of the cost after I’ve met my deductible. I believe my cost out of pocket will be around $2500. My family (like so many others) live paycheck to paycheck. We live in Utah and our rent is very high. I do not work, as I do not have a car. However, my husband and sons both work and pay the bills. As I said, I am scheduled to have a biopsy and am very worried about the medical expenses and am trying not to lose my mind over this. I appreciate any help people are willing to give to me and my family for these upcoming medical expenses.
